An email filter is a software application that stops unasked-for emails from entering a given mailbox. A large percentage of the email correspondence around the globe involves spam messages: offers for pills or cash, false bank notifications, etc. That is why, it is quite important to activate filters in order to avoid not only unsolicited bulk email messages, but also any chance of being duped somehow. Spam filters detect different things, so as to deliver better security – certain words or the frequency with which they appear in the text, the sender’s email address, or the IP of the sender’s SMTP email server. Web hosts often resort to the services of third-party spam-detecting organizations that provide up-to-the-minute databases in order to make email filtering easier and more efficient without affecting legitimate email messages, even if they contain suspicious words or phrases.
Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Servers
In case you take advantage of one of our semi-dedicated servers
, you will not need to worry about spam email messages occupying your mailboxes every once in a while, as you can make use of the popular SpamAssassin anti-spam filter that we offer with each semi-dedicated account. Our custom-developed Hepsia Control Panel will allow you to enable the filter for any mailbox with several clicks and you can choose any of the five security levels – from very low to very high. The level can be changed at any time if, for instance, genuine messages get blocked, or if spam emails go through and reach your Inbox folder. To be on the safe side, you can choose all filtered emails to be forwarded to a special mailbox like firstname.lastname@example.org and not to be erased. In this way, you can go through them every now and then to make sure that you haven’t missed a genuine email message.
